So normally we have our Fun Friday posts. However, today…. we wanted to share with you some important news regarding the Gila Fires. It is crucial to our community to help others understand that we are not close to the fire, we are not surrounded by smoke 🙂
This is what our Santa Fe Convention Center has sent out to all National news channels. Please note that Santa Fe is not being affected by the fires and please still come visit our beautiful Land of Enchantment.
Santa Fe Busy and Beautiful
Southwestern New Mexico fires not affecting Santa Fe
For Immediate Release: Santa Fe continues to enjoy beautiful spring weather and a full calendar of music, art and culinary events, markets, and outdoor activities. National media reports of a forest fire in far Southwestern New Mexico have given the impression Santa Fe is being impacted by the blaze, which is not the case.
The Whitewater-Baldy Complex fire in the Gila National Forest is 300 miles from Santa Fe, burning in a rugged and remote part of the state. It is a serious fire but not one that is being felt in Santa Fe. The current Santa Fe air quality as monitored by the New Mexico Environment Department is good. http://bit.ly/KhmqY2.
